Remember
When thinking about who should receive your assets, it is important that you consider all your possessions, not just individual items in isolation.
A foreign Will is as much part of your estate planning as an English Will, and hence you should integrate your English and foreign Wills.
Your two Wills should be thought through and written at the same time, designed to complement each other.
As in any legal document, make sure you understand the full implications of what you are signing.
An important aspect is that, as a UK citizen, you are not obliged to follow normal Spanish succession laws.
Your total assets in Spain and this country will be assessed for UK Inheritance Tax.
Most methods used to save Spanish Inheritance Tax can considerably increase your tax liabilities in this country.
We strongly recommend you take great care if you are offered a Spanish Will by someone who does not fully understand British estate planning practices.
Please take a few moments to tour our pages and build up a complete picture of our comprehensive solution. We can work with you across England and Wales, taking your instructions through a combination of post and telephone.
They are for signing in the presence of a notary in this country.
We can include clauses that leave everything "to each other, and then to children and grandchildren, etc.".
As standard we include a 30-day survivorship clause for efficient IHT saving.
